01 / THE BIG-SCREEN FEELING
A favourite film deserves more than a small display. Put on your Quest, choose a cinema or stay in your own room, and let the picture take centre stage.
From a quiet night in to a full-resolution 3D adventure, AuraPlay gives your collection room to breathe.

THE REAL DEPTH OF CINEMA
Compatible Blu-ray 3D MKV files at full 1080p per eye. Not the half-resolution picture of half-SBS. The depth, detail and scale your films were made for.
Also supports Side-by-Side, Over-Under, and immersive 180° and 360° video. Adjust depth and eye order to suit your content.

An intimate hideaway. A grand auditorium. A giant-screen hall. A little old-school magic. Choose a space, then choose your seat.
YOUR PERSONAL HIDEAWAY
A smaller, more intimate cinema for a night with your favourite films. Choose your seat and set the room brightness just how you like it.
03 / BEYOND THE PICTURE
Stay in passthrough and watch AuraLight bring the film’s colours onto your real walls. A blue horizon. A warm sunset. An atmosphere that follows the story.
Adjust the glow to your taste. AuraLight uses your Quest’s room scan to place the effect in your space.

04 / BUILT AROUND THE FILM
Everything you need to settle in.
Nothing that gets in the way.
Go flat or curved. Adjust the size, position and sharpness. Lock the screen when you’ve found your sweet spot.
Play locally, stream from your PC with AuraLink, or browse your NAS and media servers using SMB and DLNA.
Automatic resume, seeking and supported embedded subtitles. An .srt beside your film loads automatically.
Screen-anchored spatial audio keeps the sound at the picture as you look around, instead of following your head.
Move the floating controls where they feel comfortable. Playback bars fade away so your film can take over.
No subscriptions, accounts or telemetry. Enjoy your own media without handing over your library.
Supports MP4, MKV, AVI and MOV, among other formats. Playback depends on the file’s codecs, your headset and your network.
05 / FROM YOUR COMPUTER TO YOUR CINEMA
AuraLink is the free desktop companion for AuraPlay. Choose your movie folders, keep your computer and Quest on the same network, and browse your collection from your seat.

MEET THE DEVELOPER
Hi, I’m Dave - the independent developer behind AuraPlay. Originally from Paisley in Scotland and now living in London, I’m passionate about films, virtual reality, and what happens when you bring the two together.
My first encounter with VR was on the Virtuality arcade machines in the early 1990s. The experience was rough around the edges, but the idea stayed with me. I’ve followed VR ever since, eventually getting an Oculus Rift DK1 and watching the technology grow into something those early machines could only hint at.
My professional background is in software testing and quality assurance, with roles ranging from hands-on testing to leading teams. I’ve worked at BT Group, Barclays and Red Bee Media, alongside consultancy projects for organisations including the BBC. Working on digital media and testing software across different devices has given me an appreciation for the details that make an experience enjoyable - and the frustrations when things don’t work as they should.
AuraPlay brings that background together with my love of cinema. I want it to be somewhere you can settle into a seat, put on a favourite film, and enjoy the feeling of a big screen without leaving home.
I have plenty of ideas for other VR apps, but AuraPlay is my focus. It’s an ongoing project, and the people using it help shape what comes next. When you share an idea or report a problem, you’re talking directly to me.
